Description:
Vision: vestibule spaces in future trains
Have you ever ended up spendig time in a vestibule?
Entrance spaces of trains, the vestibules, are seen as loud, chaotic and unpleasant environments. Consequently, they are often left to less usage, lacking efficiency in space use.
Our team has decided to repurpose the use-case for current vestibules, as a goal to make them more purposeful and attractive for commuter use. The design process has involved material exploration, field trips, spatial planning, expert interviews, and more.
As a result, we present a redesign proposal for a future vestibule that turns passive seating areas into ‘active corners’ that particularly serve the needs of young commuters, the likes of students.
